OCAL is implementing a project for the prevention of Ebola and other haemorrhagic fevers in Benin, which targets the Cotonou port and airport and the 11 key land borders of the country.

Contribute to the prevention of the transmission of Ebola virus, and other viral haemorrhagic fevers at the airport port and at the 11 key land borders of Benin.

The budget is estimated at US $ 600,000
Duration: 1 year, from January 1 to December 31, 2016 plus NCE from January 1 to June 30, 2017

Result 1- Strengthen the capacity of checkpoints at entry points in Benin
Provide entry points with 110 protective equipment, 160 infrared thermometers, 18,000 gloves, 7,500 masks, 60 automatic gel dispensers, 3,000 L of liquid soap, 13,000 L of bleach
Install 24 hand washing devices
Develop and implement SoPs for the detection and confirmation of Ebola cases
Train 90 border officials to correctly detect, assess and manage cases
Result 2- Promotion of hand washing and Ebola prevention practices at borders
Train 300 peer educators on the control and prevention of Ebola
Educate 21,000 travelers and other land border users on the prevention and control of Ebola by peer educators
